Foreigners with temporary protection have until Thursday 30 April 2026 to express their interest in obtaining a special long-term residence permit!

If the conditions are met, applicants may obtain a long-term stable residence permit for 5 years with free access to the labour market, without the obligation to complete an adaptation and integration course. Holders of a special long-term residence permit may apply for permanent residence after fulfilling the condition of 5 years of continuous residence (the special long-term residence permit counts for its full duration, whereas previous residence under temporary protection counts for only half).

Main conditions for obtaining special long-term residence

  • expression of interest (only possible until 30 April 2026!)
  • residence in the Czech Republic for at least 2 years + continuous holding of temporary protection
  • financial self-sufficiency (minimum annual income of CZK 440,000; for a joint household, this is increased by CZK 110,000 for each additional person assessed jointly)
  • secured accommodation in the Czech Republic
  • clean criminal record, no outstanding tax or insurance arrears
  • not receiving humanitarian benefits
  • compulsory school attendance in the Czech Republic for children

Expression of interest

  • Exclusively online, via a user account on the Information Portal for Foreigners after logging in using electronic identity tools
  • detailed instructions and further conditions here:

Families must apply together

Spouses and children under the age of 18 with valid temporary protection must always express their interest together.

Registration from 1 October 2026 to 31 December 2026

Upon meeting all requirements, applicants can register for a stay between October and December 2026.
