On March 18, 2026, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved Regulation No. 42/2026 Z. z., which adopts measures to restrict diesel fuel consumption during an oil emergency. Under this regulation, diesel refueling is permitted exclusively into a vehicle’s fuel tank and into one portable container with a maximum capacity of 10 liters. At the same time, a financial limit of 400 euros per refueling was established. The regulation further restricts the export of diesel outside the territory of the Slovak Republic and introduces a special fuel price for vehicles registered abroad.
Exceptions to the restrictions:

The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, by its decision dated March 19, 2026, designated the following as vehicles of special importance
All measures are effective for a period of 30 days from the date of the regulation’s announcement, i.e., from March 19, 2026.
